Embassy rejects reports on Tehran-Beijing nuclear cooperation

Iran’s Embassy here has rejected a recent report by a US newspaper about Tehran-Beijing nuclear cooperation calling it a fabrication made by those who are against close ties between Iran and China.

Releasing a statement, the embassy’s press department rejected on Wednesday the newly-published report which was written by Iranian-born journalist Amir Taheri who lives in Europe and his activities are against Iran.

Taheri has claimed in his report that China was to build 20 nuclear sites in Iran within 10 years. He added that Iran’s uranium enrichment activities were carried out with no supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency and the country could easily find access to materials needed for making atomic bombs.

Iran has repeatedly announced that its peaceful nuclear activities are for meeting the country’s energy demands and only for civilian purposes.

“Iran and China enjoy normal relations and cooperation based on international laws and their own regulations,” said the statement.

It added the claims were made by those who were against the promotion of Tehran-Beijing trade and industrial cooperation.

“Raising such claims by those who are related to Israel and the US aim at influencing Iran-China relations,” added the statement.
