Gabon minister: Iran source of honor for Africans

Gabon Culture Minister Paul Mba Abessole said here late Saturday that Iran is a source of honor for the Africans.

In a meeting with head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Mehdi Mostafavi, he added that Iran's assets and technology equal those of the Europeans. In addition, he noted, Iran also has valuable stock of scholars and scientists.

Referring to lack of self-reliance as the problem of nations, Abessole noted that he considers the late Imam Khomeini as a great leader of Islamic movements, especially among African nations.

He called on Iranian officials to implement the projects to set up culture house, national museum and equip libraries in Gabon.

Mostafavi, for his part, said that the main characteristic of the Africans is their struggle against tyranny.

He also underlined the need for developing cultural, artistic and religious exchanges between the two nations.

Pointing to the significance of cultural cooperation, Mostafavi said that Iran attaches special importance to the expansion of cultural interactions with African governments.

Iran is ready to sign cultural deals with Gabon, he noted.
