Iran, Venezuela review expansion of defense ties

Iran and Venezuela on Tuesday reviewed the avenues to bolster bilateral defense relations.

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar and his Venezuelan counterpart Ramon Carrizalez started their first round of official negotiations on Tuesday.

Druing the meeting, the Iranian minister briefed his counterpart on the latest defense achievements in the Islamic Republic.

Referring to the Tehran-Caracas relations as strategic, he said the bilateral cooperation stems from the two sides’ determination to boost all-out mutual ties.

He added that the Iran-Venezuela bilateral relations are in line with strengthened stability and sustainable security in both the region and in the entire world.

Brigadier General Mohammad-Najjar reiterated that the two countries' relations enjoy a growing trend in all areas.

Mohammad-Najjar arrived in the capital city of Caracas Monday on a three-day visit at the head of a high-ranking defense delegation.

Menawhile, the Iranian minister and his accompanying delegation visited several Venezuelan military and industrial sites

Mohammad-Najjar’s visit to Venezuela is the first by an Iranian defense minister to the country after the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.
