Mottaki: Iran-Finland ties are deep rooted

Tehran, April 6, IRNA - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Sunday that ties between Iran and Finland are based on rational beliefs and are deep-rooted.

Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with Finnish Ambassador to
Tehran Heikki Puurunen who submitted a letter from Finland's foreign
minister to his Iranian counterpart.

According to the Press and Information Bureau of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, Mottaki highlighted relations between
the two countries and thanked his Finnish counterpart for the letter.
He pointed out that ties between two countries are based on rationality.

Highlighting the significant and active role of Finland in the
international fora, he said that unilateralism at international
gatherings should be changed and hostile and unilateral policies of
former US policies should be changed in deeds and not in words.

"We hope that European governments will play independent and fair
roles in international relations," he said.

Referring to the policies of the Zionist regime, he said that although
the Zionist regime has revealed its true identity, the continued
support of some European governments for the regime is not
incomprehenible for world public opinion.

European governments should respect rules and regulations of Durban
conference which was convened to draw up policies against racist
regimes in order to avoid any pre-judgment in support for dictatorial
regimes, he said.
