Iraq Participates In The Islamic Summit In Mecca With A Delegation Headed By President Barham Saleh

BAGHDAD (NINA) - Iraq will take part in the Islamic Summit scheduled to be held in Macca on Friday with a delegation headed by President Barham Salih. Barham Salih will head the Iraqi delegation to the Islamic summit, which is expected to be attended by more than 50 member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), official sources said. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, is expected to preside over the 14th ordinary Islamic Summit under the slogan "Mecca Summit: Hand in Hand for the Future", and will be attended by leaders of the OIC member states in order to crystallize a unified stance on current issues and events in the Islamic world. The meeting is preceded by a meeting of senior officials, who are expected to submit the results of their deliberations to the meeting of foreign ministers of the member countries of the Organization in Jeddah on Wednesday, where the ministers will submit the draft final statement to the Islamic Summit for adoption. It is expected that the Islamic Summit will issue the "Mecca Declaration" in addition to the final statement which will address many current issues in the Islamic world. The leaders are expected to discuss the position of the OIC Member States on the latest developments in the Palestinian issue. A unified stance on the recent developments in a number of Member States, as well as taking clear positions on the recent events of Muslim minorities and related to the growing rhetoric of hatred against the Muslim communities, the phenomenon of Islamophobia, the need to address terrorism and violent extremism, economic, cultural and social dealt with by the Organization. This comes after Riyadh called on leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Arab leaders to attend two emergency Gulf and Arab summits in Mecca that could be held during the Islamic summit. The official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted an official source at the Foreign Ministry as saying that the call to the two summits by Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz came from "the duty of consultation and coordination with brother countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council and the League of Arab States, which will enhance security and stability in the region. " The source added that the call comes "in light of the attack on commercial vessels near the territorial waters of the United Arab Emirates, and the actions of the Houthi militias backed by Iran from the attack on two oil pumping stations in the Kingdom."
