France-Vietnam Friendship Association calls for support to AO victims
Paris (VNA) - The France-Vietnam Friendship Association (AAFV) has called on friendship associations, international organisations and people worldwide to continue support the fight for justice for Vietnamese Agent Orange /dioxin victims.
The appeal was made at a seminar on the impacts of AO/dioxin in Vietnam recently
held in France , which attracted the participation of French AO/dioxin experts,
AAFV leaders and representatives of European friendship associations with Vietnam
.
The participants denounced the US Supreme Court's decision to deny a petition
brought by Vietnamese AO victims against the US companies responsible for the
production of AO/dioxins used during the war in Vietnam without any
explanation, calling it an unjust one.
They emphasised the serious consequences of more than 80 million litres of
herbicide which contained over 300kg of dioxin, sprayed by US troops in Vietnam
.
" Vietnam is home to 3 million AO/dioxin victims," they said, adding that the
toxic chemical has affected three generations of Vietnamese. It damages not only
human health but also the natural environment.-Enditem
