Iran-Afghanistan-Tajikistan trilateral summit held in Tehran

Tehran, March 11, IRNA – A trilateral meeting of the presidents of Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan was held here Tuesday evening.

In their talks the three Presidents, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Imomali Rakhmon and Hamid Karzai of Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan respectively,stressed that expansion of relations and cooperation among the three countries will be beneficial to them.

The presidents said potentials and capacities of the three countries are complementary to each other and ties should be developed in every fields.

"Transportation, electricity, water and trade are among existing fields in which bilateral cooperation should be expanded," the three officials underlined.

They also called for acceleration of implementation of trilateral agreements.

The three countries agreed the national coordinating council in the level of foreign ministers hold its first meeting in Tajikistan as soon as possible and follow up the agreements reached in Tehran summit.

The three foreign ministers also got committed to follow up Tehran trilateral agreements in the Afghan city of “ Mazar-e-Sharif” in the late March, 2009./end
