Pulitzer award-winning author says US responsible for Gaza tragedy

Gaza City, March 9, IRNA -- Pulitzer award-winning author Alice Walker expressed outrage over human tragedy in Gaza City holding the US Administration accountable for the deaths of innocent people and children by Israel.

She is in Gaza City joining other female activists organized by the US anti-war group Code Pink.

The visit to Gaza was to highlight the human tragedy caused by Israel urging Egypt and Israel to lift blockade on Gaza.

The group came to the Gaza Strip via Rafah crossing with Egypt.

Walker, author of ‘The Color Purple’, said the United States also was responsible for the destruction in Gaza.

"It's very important that they understand what is happening, and that we hold our own administration accountable," she told reporters in Gaza City.

"I love people, and I love children and I feel that the Palestinian child is just as precious as the African-American child, as the Jewish child," Walker lamented.
