2nd OIC health conference opens in Tehran

Tehran, March 1, IRNA -

The second OIC Health Ministers Conference kicked off in the Iranian
capital on Sunday.

Health ministers and representatives from 57 member countries of the
Organization of the Islamic Conference are attending the four-day
conference to discuss promotion of health services in the Muslim states.

The first gathering of OIC health ministers was held in Malaysia in 2007.

Some 20 health ministers from OIC states are among delegates attending
the second meeting to follow up the implementation of the Malaysia
agreements.

The OIC health ministers had singed 10 agreements in 2007 on promotion
of health services in the member states including domestic production
of vaccines, implementation of the world program to combat child
polio, promotion of women and children healthcare as well as issues
related to the security of the global environment.

Promotion of medial ethics as well as the smoking control program were
among other major agreements made in the Malaysia meeting which are to
be followed up in Tehran.
