LONDON, UK, Nov 2 (Antara) - An Indonesian cultural delegation performed some of the country's traditional dances at the La Nao Festival 2016 held at Fuerte de San Diego, Acapulco CITY, Mexico.
This was stated in a press release issued by the Indonesian Embassy in Mexico and received by Antara here on Tuesday.
Indonesian head of consular (HOC) in Mexico, Aji Setiawan, said Rantak, Jaipong and Rejang dances were presented by a Balinese dance group.
The festival organized in the historical background of La Nao trip to Acapulco in the 16th century was held to commemorate the triumph of the ship, as well as to promote the culture of other countries traversed by the crew of La Nao.
Apart from Indonesian dances, traditional music of Argentina, Mexican folklore and percussion music from Colombia were also presented.
Indonesia was the Guest Country at the La Nao Festival in 2013.
Aji Setiawan noted that the Indonesian dance performances represented the diversity of Asian cultures.
Indonesia offers scholarships to UAA students to study in the country through the Darmasiswa program.
The Darmasiswa scholarship program is expected to inspire Mexican students to better understand Indonesia.
