Seminar on drug addiction harms held

Manama, June 23 (BNA): As part of the celebrations of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a seminar on harms of drug addiction was held recently for inmates convicted in drug cases. The seminar highlighted that drug addict should be treated as a patient and not a criminal and provided with treatment and recovery programmes. The event also warned of the high risks that many addicts may return to their addiction after they serve their jail sentence. The participants were informed about the harms of drug addiction on the addict's health.
