Laos, Vietnam further cooperation on technology and science
(KPL) The Laos-Vietnam Technology and Science Agencies have agreed to cooperate on technology and science development and these agencies made such a joint statement in Vientiane on 18 December.
Professor Bountiem Phisamai, Minister to Prime Minister’s Office and Head of the Science and Technology and Environment Agency of Laos, and Mr Huang Van Fonh, Minister of Technology and Science of Vietnam signed an agreement on this cooperation.
According to the agreement, the Vietnamese side will provide assistance on technology and science development to Laos in order to enable her to develop, to further the friendship relations between the two countries and to foster a long traditional special solidarity and all around cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
Both sides discussed and reviewed the technological and scientific cooperation in the past and the present.
Laos and Vietnam also agreed to further cooperate on a work plan that covers a three-year period, 2009-2011, which is focused on upgrading the knowledge of Lao officials on technology and science, on intellectual property rights and cooperation on agriculture.
