Speaker hails Bahrain's rights strides

Amman, June 10 (BNA): Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla stressed Bahrain's human rights strides, citing especially the establishment of the National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR), the Ombudsman and the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission (PDRC). "These landmark milestones represent the best answer to certain politicized rights watchdogs whose goals have been laid bare", he said as he visited Jordan National Museum in Amman, stressing the importance of stepping up Arab and international parliamentary coordination to confront the scourge of terrorism. He urged more cooperation to stave off regional challenges, maintain security and stability and achieve comprehensive development for a better and prosperous future. The Speaker congratulated His Majesty King Abdulla II ibn Al-Hussain on the 16th anniversary of his accession to the throne, wishing the Kingdom of Jordan and its people further progress and prosperity. He hailed Jordan's participation in the Arab alliance to reinstate legitimacy in Yemen, maintain the security and stability of its people and halt the external interferences which are aiding and abetting the terrorist Houthi militias. "The Jordanian people are well aware of the plots and foreign interference which are masterminded against Bahrain", he said, stressing the attempts of terrorist groups to spark chaos, foment strife, subvert national unity and erode social cohesion", he said. He warned against the detrimental fallouts resulting from the situation unfolding in Iraq and Syria on regional security and stability, stressing Bahrain's unwavering support to Jordan.
