Bahraini-Chinese housing cooperation discussed

Manama, May 5 (BNA): Minister of Housing Eng. Bassim bin Yacoub Al-Hamar has received Chinese CITIC company delegation, and discussed opportunities of cooperation in the field of implementing housing and infrastructure projects in Bahrain. The meeting was attended by Eskan Bank General Manager Dr. Khalid Abdullah and a number of senior officials of Housing Ministry and Eskan Bank. The visit of the Chinese delegation is organized by Economic Development Board aimed at introducing work environment and investment opportunities available in Bahrain. In addition to holding a number of meetings with Bahraini representatives of government and private sectors. A visual presentation was given to demonstrate the ministry's services provided for citizens of low income since the sixties of last century, and the government's efforts in delivering 106 thousand housing units until the end of 2014. The presentation showed the government's experience in engaging the private sector in the implementation of housing units. It also presented direct investment opportunities available in the area of the implementation of housing services in Bahrain. The delegation was briefed on the ministry's housing plan launched early 2012, as well as carrying out the Royal Order on implementing 40,000 residential units in Bahrain. The Chinese delegation gave an overview of the CITIC experience in the area of the implementation of housing and infrastructure projects in many countries. in addition to providing technical, engineering and planning consulting that could be useful for the ministry's plans.
