Savannakhet monks learn to clean palm leaf manuscripts
(KPL) The monks in municipality of Savannakhet province learned how to conserve and keep palm leaf manuscript between 15-17 December in the province.
The training course was organized by the National Library under the sponsorship of the US Embassy.
The Director of the national library, Ms. Kongdeune Nedtavong said this training was to review the conservation work of palm leaf manuscripts and the expansion project in the province. So far the palm leaf manuscript conservation saw there was just small number of palm leaf manuscripts have conserved so the training course was to raise understanding to monks how important conservation of palm leaf manuscript.
The palm leaf manuscript is an important priceless documents which ancestors have left for hundred centuries by their traditional restoration.
The training course taught monks and novices how to clean palm leaf manuscripts and practices.
