Bahraini-British cultural cooperation discussed

Manama, Mar 18 (BNA) – President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, today received British Council Director-General, Tony Calderbank, and researcher Louis Frederick of the British Library, and discussed ways to promote cultural cooperation between the two kingdoms. BACA President stressed the importance of the British role played in enriching Bahraini culture. The meeting discussed the possibility of organizing an exhibition to accentuate the 200-year relation between the two countries, and Britain's positive role in bringing social, economic and administrative achievements during the tenure of Bahrain's government's advisor Charles Belgrave from 1929-1959. The two sides reviewed means of benefiting from researches of Louis Frederick on cultural communication achieved by British Cultural Council in the region since 1939, and its role in abridging the gap between people of the region and United Kingdom. British Council Director-General expressed readiness to take part in events that assist in boosting cultural exchange between the two countries.
