Savannakhet explores potential tourist sites
(KPL) Savannakhet and the National Tourism Administration conducted a two-day trip to survey potential tourist sites along the East-West Economic Corridor, especially in the Old City and Kaysone Phomvihane district.
The on-foot sightseeing on 22 - 23 November covered old buildings and architectures in the Old City and natural tourist sites in Dongnatad village.
Mrs. Bounmy Khantivong, Head of the Savannakhet Provincial Tourist Office said that it was the first time the province had organised this kind of tourist activity, which was aimed to promote the tourism along the East-West Economic Corridor.
“Compared to other tourist sites,” Mrs. Bounmy said. “The old buildings and architectures attract a lager and increasing number of domestic and foreign tourists annually.”
The province plans to hold this kind of tourist activity in few weeks, which will explore natural, historic and cultural tourist sites in the three southern districts of the province, namely Sayphouthong, Songkhone and Champhone and another one in January to explore tourist sites along road no 9 and Ho Chi Minh trail in Nong district.
