Malaysia gives donation to aid flood victims

(KPL) The Government of Malaysia has agreed to contribute USD50,000 to the Government of the Lao PDR to assist in overcoming the problems and needs arising from the massive flood in August 2008, according to a press release from Malaysian Embassy on 28 November.
Mr Zainal Abidin Ahmad, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Lao PDR handed over the USD50,000 cheque to Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs at a ceremony held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, 28 November.
Mr Ahmad expressed that the Government and people of Malaysia sympathised and shared the suffering of the flood victims.
The Government of Malaysia and its people will continue to assist Lao people to restore its nation and hope that this contribution would help lessen the burden faced by the victims and assist them during the recovery process.
The contribution reflects the long established friendship and solidarity between the two countries. The said ceremony was attended by relevant officials of both sides.
