UN Global E-Readiness Reports 2014 places Bahrain on top of Arab countries

Manama, Jun 30 (BNA) – Minister of Transportation, Acting CEO of Economic Development Council, Kamal bin Ahmed, today highlighted Bahrain's government policy and wise leadership's directives to provide better services to citizens and residents, which have actively contributed to moving Bahrain to the 18th ranking according to UN Global E-Readiness Reports 2014. Transportation Minister, in a press conference, explained that Bahrain's international ranking achieved is due to the joint technological cooperation has taken place among the state's ministries and agencies to positively improve the quality of services provided for the community. He added that Bahrain has led Arab countries and five more geographical regions, in addition to coming by 18 points ahead of a group of Asian and European countries according to the same UN report. He said the E-government readiness adopted index is based on measuring three components, including communications infrastructure, e-services and human resources, where Bahrain remarkably progressed in three of them.
