Visit of Lao students to India on familiarization trip

(KPL) As part of an initiative taken by India and the ASEAN at their senior officials meeting in Bali in April 2008, it has been decided that the visit of ten students each from ASEAN countries to India will take place on an annual basis. The first such visit was organised in 2007.
Another five Lao students will leave for India on 15 November for a period of ten days.
These five students are Mr. Sengvilayvanh Sinthavikhoune, Miss Soytavanh Mienmany, Miss Phonenipha Mathouchanh, Miss Sadavee S. Phabmixay, and Mr. Veha Sihavong from the National University of Laos
They will have an opportunity to visit hi-tech industries of India, including automobiles, IT sector, steel, space programme and earth moving equipment factory.
The visit will also take them to Tata Steel and Tata Motors which has developed the cheapest car in the world.
They will visit ISRO which is responsible for the Indian Space programme and has recently launched the first Indian lunar spacecraft.
The students will also have an opportunity to extensively visit archaeological sites in India in Bangalore, Chennai, Koklata, Jamshedpur, Agra, Jaipur and New Delhi.
They will also meet top leaders of India and in some of the states they visit.
The next five students from the Lao PDR will leave for India early next year when they will have another extensive programme of interaction with the Indian industry and political establishment.
The visits are part of efforts by India and ASEAN countries to develop an effective youth exchange programme between India and ASEAN countries as a mean to establish friendship and understanding so that they can contribute to further growth of friendship between peoples of India and ASEAN countries
