Obama victory token of Bush failure: Iran

Victory of the Democratic nominee Senator Barak Obama in the US presidential election is a token of failure of President George W. Bush, a senior advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday.

Commenting on Obama's victory as the 44th US president, Gholamali Haddad Adel said, the American people have to change their policies in order to get rid themselves of the quagmire made by President Bush for them.

Obama has become the first US African-American president to ever conquer the White House as his Republican rival John McCain ceeded the presidential race to him after he triumphed 349 electoral votes to McCain.

"The next US president, should abandon the course taken by President Bush so far," Haddad Adel added.

Obama, 47, is the son of a black father from Kenya and a white mother from Kansas.

He sealed his historic triumph by defeating McCain in Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio which have had a critical role in presidential elections for nearly 50 years.

He also claimed New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maryland, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Vermont and the District of Columbia.

Obama won all four electoral votes in Maine and scored a victory in his home state of Illinois, as well as in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and the southwestern state of New Mexico.

His inauguration will be held on January 20, 2009./end
