Vietnam to conduct population survey next year

Hanoi (VNA) - A national survey on population and housing will start from April 1, 2009, said a representative from the General Statistics Office (GSO) at a press briefing in Hanoi on November 1.

The survey, the fourth of its kind in the country, aims to collect basic
population and housing data in order to serve population and housing
development research and analyses.
The data will also be the basis for the country to review the
implementation of socio-economic plans between 2000 and 2009 and build
development plans for the 2010-2020 period.

The survey, scheduled to complete by April 20, 2009 at the latest, will
focus on nine basic issues, including the scale and structure of the
population, migration situation, labour and employment, and housing and
living conditions of the nation's households.

The results of the survey will be announced in the third quarter of
2009.-Enditem
