BAKUVITES SAYS GOODBYE TO MUSLIM MAGOMAYEV
Baku, 29 0ctober ,(AzerTAj)- Today the Bakuvites said goodbye to Muslim Magomayev.
Thousand Bakuvites who knew him and for whom he was an idol came to pay last
respects to the great singer. Some of them have shared their feelings and memoirs on
the outstanding fellow countryman.
Siyavush Karimi, Rector of Azerbaijan National Conservatory: “Certainly, Muslim
Magometovich is the brightest star of our art. Not to everyone it has been allowed
so to glorify the country. Only Rashid Behbudov was able to do it and he has passed
on baton to Muslim. They were known all over the world. He was pride of our
country.”
Habil Aliyev, People’s Artist: “I remember, we were on tours in Bulgaria. The
concert was official and many listeners have started to leave the hall. And suddenly
on the scene there appeared Muslim. All have returned and gave a long standing
ovation to him. He could carry away any audience. I think such masters appear once a
century.”
Ramiz Gulyiev, People’s Artist: “With Muslim we studied in parallel in the vocal
class of Shovkat Mammadova. The last some days were for us very heavy. We are very
grateful to President Ilham Aliyev that Muslim is buried in native Baku which he so
loved.”
Sabir Rustamkhanly, People’s Writer: “I was very much touched by farewell to Muslim
Magomayev in Moscow. He was loved by all people, irrespective of nationality. Being
absolutely young, he has glorified the country, and brought together the peoples.”
Farhad Khalilov, People’s Artist and Secretary of the Union of Artists: “We were
friends with Muslim since early youth. My memoirs on him are continuous emotions.
His death is a blow not only for me. He was idolized by the huge country, the entire
world which has lost the surprisingly talented person.”
Rasim Balayev, People’s Artist and Secretary of the Union of Cinematographers: “It
is difficult to speak in such a minute. He was of such dimension and at the same
time such simple in dialogue. Very few people have been awarded with such national
love.”
