ANOTHER HISTORICAL MONUMENT DISCOVERED IN NAKHCHIVAN

Baku, 27 0ctober ,(AzerTAj)Workers of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography
of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and its branch in Nakhchivan
Autonomous Republic have discovered an old monument in Gilanchay valley of Ordubad
city. The monument found in Sum Batan area, dates back to the first millennium B.C.
and includes pieces of ancient constructions, which seem to comprise the ancient
chapel. The archaeologists have found a place with stone idol and 3-meters-wide
walls, which might be considered a place of religious ceremonies and devotion.
Archaeological find still remain to testify Gilanchay valley as a place of ancient
civilizations.
