Qatar Media Corporation Spreading Qatar Achievements
Doha, December 12 (QNA) - Qatar Media Corporation has a leading role in spreading the true image of the Qatari society and the boom experienced by the country through the visual and audio media, stemming from its belief in the role of the media and its importance as one of the tools to build a modern state.
Qatar Media Corporation has achieved several remarkable accomplishments in various domains. Qatar Television has adopted all necessary measures to ensure the upgrading the work and news services provided to the audience in Qatar and the world.
During 2011-2012, the television covered many local events and conferences, especially the news program covering Qatar's National Day celebrations on December 18, 2011, a special program for the anniversary of the establishment of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, and the development of news program entitle "The Seventh Day", which tracks local affairs and highlights the regional and international political developments, also developing a daily bulletin "The Evening Newspaper" which deals with news and local activities, with the continuation of broadcast news programs including " Sport Studio" and "Economic Coordinates".
The television also continued the overall development of all its systems in order to keep pace with the rapid advances in the field of broadcasting and TV production and to reach coherent and high-definition (HD) systems.
The television also implemented a project for the supply and operation of 12 cameras and accessories, all running with (HD) system, with recording and display based on (Optical disc) instead of the traditional tapes. It also implemented a project to modernize cameras to the news studio by adding (5) new cameras running with (HD) system.
The television also activated the broadcasting and imaging system at the Imam Abdul Wahab Mosque, in which Friday prayers are currently performed along with all other religious events, and provided all the engineering requirements required by the United Nations during the UNCTAD and the Climate Change Conference, as Qatar TV was the official sponsor for the events.
Qatar TV offers news, cultural, educational and documentary programs in addition to programs for children, youth, women and family and entertainment programs with a total of 3276 hours of broadcasting.
Qatar Television won several important awards for the diversity and richness of its programs. The Corporation won the Gold award for the historic serial (Al-Qa'aqa'a), the Gold award for the serial(Tsaneef 2) and the Silver award for the environment program (Land and Sea) in the 12th Gulf Radio and Television Festival in Bahrain in 2012.
The TV revenues from broadcasting advertisements in 2011 rose by 9% from the previous year, demonstrating the improved programs broadcasted by the television.
Meanwhile, Qatar Radio also accomplished several achievements through producing dramatic and distinct programs that received numerous gold and silver awards at Gulf and Arab festivals.
The Radio produces a variety of cultural, social and religious programs. News bulletin were developed and improved by expanding the network of correspondents, keeping abreast of technological developments and the acquisition of the latest electronic devices to provide speed to follow and broadcast the news.
Qatar Media Corporation is started the implementation of the permanent station for the Gulf Voice Radio in the Sultanate of Oman. The Corporation also contributes to prepare Katara studios in the new radio building in the Cultural Village.
Qatar Radio produced several exclusive songs to mark the national and sports events in the country, and aired them during its coverage in these events as the national day, HH the Emir Cup, HH the Heir Apparent Cup and the Arab Championship (Doha / 2012).
The Radio was keenness to develop the capabilities of its crew and though held several training workshops staff, including a training course to improve the staff skills in the new DALET system which was installed in the radio studios.
During the last year, a new building for Al-Kas Channel was built in Aspire with advanced television equipment and ready to operate with 3G system. The Channel is able to cover several local and international sport occasions in the same time. (QNA)
