Qatar-UK 2013 Launched in London
London, December 04 (QNA) - The "Qatar- United Kingdom Cultural Programme 2013" was launched here today at Claridge's Hotel London, in the presence of Qatar's Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Ed Vaizey, UK Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries, Qatar's Ambassador to UK HE Khalid Rashid Salem Al Hamoudi Al Mansouri, and a number of senior officials of Qatar Muesums Authority and cultural institutions in the two countries. The event is part of celebrations of Qatar Embassy in London on the occasion of the National Day of the State of which falls on December 18.
HE Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Qatar Museums Authority, stressed in a press statement issued by the Authority this evening on the importance of the Qatar-UK Prgramme" .. She said : "We are proud of the success of the Qatar - Japan 2012 celebration, We hope that next year we can continue to promote cultural dialogue and programs that aim to build bridges between nations .. and we look forward to a year of fruitful cooperation and to celebrate the friendship relations and cultural exchange between Qatar and the United Kingdom. "
Commenting on the cultural diplomacy programme , HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage said : "We represent two essential cultures in the world, the Arab-Islamic culture and the culture of Anglo Saxon, a matter which makes sharing events between us a way to achieve greater understanding and cooperation, so we strive to make it a special year of cultural relations between the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom. "
HE Khalid Rashid Al Salem Al Hamoudi Al Mansouri, Qatar's ambassador to the United Kingdom said: "I am honored to be here today to witness the beginning of an important day for the State of Qatar, the day we celebrate the beginning of the friendship festive between us and the United Kingdom through the culture, art and intellectual dialogue."
Inspired by the Qatar National Vision for 2030, Qatar UK 2013 aims to forge new partnerships in education, sport, creative industries, and science, while promoting an awareness and appreciation of each other s culture, achievements, and heritage. (END)
