Doha, December 03 (QNA) - HE Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Chairman of the United Nations Climate Change COP 18, said he was optimistic that all parties may reach a satisfactory outcome at the end of the conference sessions.
His Excellency said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the ongoing climate change negotiations in Doha were going well and according to the schedule set by the parties participating in the conference, stressing the importance of the conference with the participation of over 192 countries.
Regarding an atmosphere of pessimism leaked by some of the negotiating parties, he said that what is happening is normal, especially taking into account the presence of such a large number of the representatives of various countries whose interests are varied.
On the role played by the State of Qatar to converge their views, he said: "My role as president of the conference is to urge all parties involved to negotiate as well as discuss and bring the views closer." (QNA)
