'A Million Trees': Environmental Campaign at the COP 18

Doha, November 29 (QNA) "They Uproot a Tree, We Plant Tens"; the slogan behind an 18th Conference of Parties (COP 18) campaign, as part of the talks currently being held in Doha. Agricultural engineer Hassan Ga Ga , who is in charge of the campaign, said that it is implemented by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), which is an environmental Group based in Amman aimed at encouraging the plantation of trees at occupied Palestinian lands subject to razing by Israeli forces. In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Thursday , Ga Ga said that at the beginning of the campaign's operation 11 years ago, the Israeli occupation had uprooted a quarter of a million trees and now the number of trees has reached about two and a half million trees. Hence, the slogan focuses on the Palestinian will towards life and development in the face of these difficult social and environmental circumstances.
