HH Sheikha Moza Attends Graduation Ceremony of University of Calgary -Qatar

Doha, November 18 (QNA) - HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser attended this evening the graduation ceremony of the third batch of graduates of Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the University of Calgary, at the St. Regis Hotel. Dr. Dr. Elizabeth Cannon,president of the University of Calgary said that this achievement was a result of the vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the support and guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser as well as their belief in the importance of education and scientific research, highlighting the importance that University as part of their vision to enrich the education and health sector in Qatar. Dr. Carolyn Byrne Dean and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Calgary stressed that the graduates are now ready scientifically and practically to join the ranks of the health care system in Qatar. University of Calgary -Qatar has been offering a Bachelor of Nursing Degree program in Doha for almost five years now. It turned out its first batch of nursing degree graduates in 2010. The Qatar health care system is now richer by 24 highly trained nurses. 111 students are presently enrolled at the university, 26 of which are Qatari. Along with the regular track nursing program and a post diploma bachelor of nursing program, part-time studies and preparatory foundation programs are being offered at the Canadian university. Part-time Studies Program was started early in 2011. It allows nurses who are working in the health care system in Qatar now to upgrade their credentials to a nursing degree. UCQ s high-tech Clinical Simulation Learning Centre (CSLC) is equipped with some of the most sophisticated teaching resources available world-wide. (QNA)
