HH the Emir, HH Sheikha Moza Open World Innovation Summit for Education

Doha, November 13 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, opened Tuesday the fourth edition of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) at the Qatar National Convention Centre. President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipovic attended the ceremony. The opening ceremony was also attended by several of Their Excellencies Sheikhs and Ministers and pioneering experts interested in the areas of innovation in education. At the end of the opening session, HH the Emir presented the WISE Prize for Education to Dr. Madhav Chavan, the Co-Founder and CE-President of Pratham organization in India, for his efforts in bringing education and literacy to millions at minimum cost. The WISE Prize for Education recognizes an individual or team of up to six people for an outstanding, world-class contribution to education. The WISE Prize is enhancing the status of education by giving it similar prestige to other areas for which major international awards exist such as science, literature, peace and economics. The Laureate receives an award of $500,000 (US) and a gold medal. (QNA)
