Katara Presents Romeo and Juliet in Baghdad

Doha, September 30 (QNA) - Katara, the Cultural Village began Sunday presentation of Romeo and Juliet in Baghdad, an adaptation of the classic Shakespeare love story, Romeo and Juliet by the Iraqi Theatre. The tragic tales a story of two star crossed lovers that are divided not just by family, but also by religious sect. A production infused with Iraq's rich traditions of poetry, music and ritual, Romeo and Juliet in Baghdad counterpoints the bleak cycle of violence and revenge with a nation's longing for beauty and love. Romeo and Juliet in Baghdad is directed by Monadhil Daood and stars some of Iraqi's finest actors, including Sami Abdulhameed, Fawzia Arif, Haider Monathir, Zahra Beden and Maimoon Al Khalidi. (QNA)
