Al Wakra Maintain Win Streak in QSL

Doha, September 29 (QNA) - Qatar Stars League (QSL) side Al Wakra on Saturday edged Al Kharaitiyat 1-0 to extend their win streak to three matches. Nayef Mubarak Al Khater scored the only goal of the match in the 58th minute at Al Wakra Stadium. Al Khater was ably assisted by Ali Al Mery in producing the winning goal for Al Wakra. Al Wakra stunned Al Gharafa in their first match of the new season on September 16. Coached by Mehmed Bazdarevic, Al Wakra are tied with Al Sadd and Al Rayyan with 9 points from three games in the QSL standings. The next round of matches will commence on October 20. Al Kharaitiyat - with just one point from three matches - are coached by Frenchman Bernard Simondi. In another match, Eljaish on Saturday beat Al Sailiyah 2-0 for their second successive win in the Qatar Stars League (QSL). Wagner Reynar scored the first goal in the 10th minute followed by Adriano's penalty kick in the 52nd minute at Qatar Sports Club Stadium. It was Eljaish's second successive win after their 1-0 victory against Lekhwiya on September 22. Reynar opened the scoring for Eljaish with a sublime finish. After Al Sailiyah's goalkeeper Gregory Gomis punched the ball away, Wagner picked up the lose ball and dribbled past a defender before unleashing a powerful drive into the net from the edge of the box. In the 52nd minute, Eljaish doubled their lead when Adriano converted from a penalty. Adriano was brought down by Al Sailiya's new Korean import Kim Kim. The referee promptly pointed to the spot kick which was easily availed by Adriano. The 12 QSL teams now disperse for a 20-day break. (QNA)
