Iran, Tanzania review expansion of mutual, regional cooperation

Tehran, Oct 20, IRNA - Visiting Tanzanian Foreign Minister Bernard Membe conferred on Sunday with Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki on expansion of mutual relations and on regional developments mainly in the African continent.

Iran has always held good ties with Tanzania and there are good
grounds for further deepening of such ties, Mottaki said.

Iran attaches importance to expansion of ties with Tanzania which
plays a key role in expanding relations among countries in that
region, he said, adding that the country plays a pivotal role in
defusing growing crises in the African continent.

Referring to friendly ties between Iran and other African countries,
Mottaki said Iran has always done its best to put an end to conflicts
in the African continent and to this end Iran has host a foreign
ministerial meeting to help resolve disputes between Chad and Sudan.

Iran is ready to pursue the same policy and help resolve disputes
among other countries in the African continent, Mottaki said.

African countries should exercise vigilance in dealing with double
standard policies of the global arrogance, he underlined.

Mottaki voiced Tehran's readiness to help settle the existing problems
facing the African nations and establish peace and stability in that
continent.

Tehran is now preparing the grounds to hold the first Iran-Africa
joint session, he said.

The Tanzanian foreign minister whose country holds presidency of
African Union, for his part, said Iran and Tanzania had very
constructive and serious talks on various fields and "We seek to take
advantage of Iran's experiences in agriculture, industry and health
care fields."
The Iranian nation has made remarkable progress in various scientific
fields which indicates the firm determination of this great nation to
deal with hardships resulting from their
self-confidence, he said.

African states try to play a much active role in controlling regional
disputes and help restore peace to the region, he said.

African Union spares no efforts to successfully hold the upcoming
summit of African heads of states in Tehran, he said.

The session is to be attended by senior African officials in Tehran.
