PM Chairs Meeting of Arab Ministerial Committee on Syria
Cairo, September 05 (QNA) - Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al-Thani on Wednesday presided over the closed door meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee on Syria held on the sidelines of the 138th regular meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers, which kicked of here earlier today.
During the meeting, the Committee discussed the latest developments in Syria, the UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi's mission, a memo submitted by the Arab League General Secretariat on the latest developments in Syria besides the resolutions adopted during the Makkah Islamic Solidarity Summit, including the suspension of the Syrian membership in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which has entered into effect.
The Committee also reviewed a number of steps aimed at supporting the UN-Arab League special envoy's mission in Syria besides the reports of the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Chairman of the Committee and the Arab League Chief, Dr. Nabil al Arabi on the outcomes of their contacts meant to unite the Syrian opposition and provide humanitarian aids for Syrian refugees and displaced.
The Committee forwarded its recommendations to the Arab League Council.
Chaired by the State of Qatar, the Arab ministerial committee includes Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria along with the Deputy Joint Special Envoy for Syria, Nasser al- Kidwa. (QNA)
