LECTURER INVENTS MEDICAL CAMERA SYSTEM FOR FACIAL IMAGING
PENANG (Malaysia), Oct 17 (Bernama) -- A Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
lecturer has scored a first for the country by inventing a medical camera system
that can capture a precise image of the human face.
Dr Zainul Ahmad Rajion, a lecturer at USM's School of Dental Sciences, said
the innovation would be beneficial to the country's medical industry.
An expert in the field of craniofacial imaging, he said the system which
incorporated two cameras, named "MyCranio MyCast", was an efficient tool in
producing stereo photogrammetric medical imaging.
"Images can also be obtained faster compared to conventional methods which
can take up to 30 minutes," he told a news conference at USM in this northern
state Thursday.
Other advantages, he added, were that the system was highly portable and
cost less less than RM70,000 (US$19,000) to produce.
