Mottaki: Jalili's recent letter to Solana sign of Iran's transparency

Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Monday that recent letter of Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili to the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana is a token of transparency and clarity of Tehran's logic.

Mottaki told a group of foreign ambassadors in Tehran, "We will
continue with our cooperation with the International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA) in line with our Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)
commitments and within framework of the IAEA regulations." Elsewhere
in his address, Mottaki said extremism in the Middle East is product
of scenarios, instances of financial assistance and special training.

Warning against re-organization of extremism in the region, Mottaki
said, "Following terrorist measures and insecurity fanned
internationally by extremists, the US and some of its allies attacked
Afghanistan seven years ago with pronounced objective of fighting
insecurity, extremism and poppy cultivation."
He said, "However, if you ask any Afghan or expert now whether Afghan
is more secure than seven years ago, s/he will give a no answer."
The Iranian top diplomat also briefed the audience on human rights
issues and Iran's candidacy to win membership of the UN Security
Council.
