Georgian FM and Israeli Knesset members meet

Georgia, Tbilisi, June 19 / Trend N. Kirtzkhalia / Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze received Israeli Knesset members of the Friendship Group with Georgia, headed by Abraham Michael on a visit to Tbilisi on June 18. According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry, issues of political, cultural, scientific and economic relations and the prospects for their development were discussed at the meeting. Both sides discussed the issues of improving the bilateral legal framework that will facilitate further development of relations between the two countries, the report said. Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at a briefing that the Georgian side will ask for Israel's views regarding the Iranian issue during the Israeli delegation's visit. "We welcome this visit," she said. "We must discuss several issues. In this particular case I should voice the assumption that bilateral relations will be at the fore. "Therefore, cooperation issues will be discussed between the parliaments' friendship groups, but of course such an important issue as regional security will be discussed. It will be interesting for the Georgian side to hear Israel's opinion on this topic. " I suppose that the relations between the two countries will be the main issue of discussions during the visit, but the Georgian side is interested in Israel's views regarding the Iranian issue."
