Expert: Dust storms rise asthma in Iran by 35 percent

Azerbaijan, Baku, Jun.11/ Trend F.Milad/ Although the director of the Department of Environment of Iran had said that dusts have no effect on air pollution, a lung diseases physician said that the recent dust storm into Iran has increased the risk of respiratory diseases. He said that asthma level in Tehran reached 35 percent. Ebrahim Razi, the lung diseases physician, believes that dust is easily entered into the respiratory system and increase the density of blood. So, they congest veins and make respiration hard, Mehr News Agency reported. "People in Tehran used to suffer from air pollution, resulted from operation of industrial factories and cars. But, dust storms have worsened the situation during the past 2-3 years. They have made breathing harder for people," Razi noted. Mohammad-Javad Mohammadizadeh, the head of the Department of Environment, had said that dust storms are not fatal and they only can be dangerous for people, suffering from heart diseases and pregnant women.
