CIS countries’ tax services define priorities for confronting global challenges

Azerbaijan, Baku, June 8 / Trend A. Akhundov /
Today, legal system unification is required in the area of taxation in the CIS, head of the Ukrainian State Tax Service Alexander Klimenko told media during the Nineteenth Meeting of the Coordination Council of Heads of Tax Services of the CIS countries in Baku today.
"This is a complicated and laborious process," he added. "It is underway, but it takes time. After these documents come into effect, the taxpayers will feel simplifying the process of their work."
He said that the key issues are a service component, electronic reporting and transfer pricing.
"First of all, this is a platform on which we have an opportunity to exchange the views, to see the innovations introduced by each tax service per year, the narrow problem areas which require our joint solutions," he said. "There are many challenges in today's world.
No tax service can operate autonomously. We already understand that transnational capital, transnational companies urge the tax services to cooperate more rapidly and to exchange the information to fulfill the major challenges."
The main challenge is to build a highly professional service that renders quality services to taxpayers and therefore to complete budget revenues.
Besides the CIS countries, Deputy Minister of Taxes Sahib Alakbarov said that the council includes representatives of tax services of Korea, Lithuania and Latvia as observers.
"The changes to the legislation of the CIS countries, which occurred last year, the issues of simplifying taxation, preventing the physical entities' attempts to conceal income were also discussed," he said.
"We exchanged the views. I think these discussions will be very useful for our further cooperation."
