MALAYSIA EMERGES MAIN STUDY DESTINATION - MINISTER
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is now the main study
destination of students from Muslim countries, Higher Education Minister Khaled
Nordin said.
Therefore, he said, the country should be ready to accommodate their wishes
by offering them more opportunities.
"In Malaysia, the fields of study and courses we provide are of quality and
as proof, many countries intend to send students to this country. So, Malaysia
has to be ready to meet the demand," he told reporters here Monday.
It was also proof that Malaysia possessed advantages over other countries,
he said.
Earlier, he witnessed the signing of an agreement between Universiti Tun
Abdul Razak (UniTar) and the Islamic Banking and Finance Institute of Malaysia
(IBFIM)and the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM).
In his speech, Khaled said the strategic partnership between UniTar, IBFIM
and FPAM could serve as an important platform to invest in the human capital
necessary for the promotion of the Islamic financial industry worldwide.
He said this partnership would enable and facilitate the process of
connecting knowledge communities in Malaysia with a long term goal of knowledge
development and mutual collaboration in the pursuit of innovation and excellence
in Islamic finance.
"I believe that this collaboration will futher promote and strengthen the
agenda of human capital for new and knowledge development in Islamic Financial
Planning and Banking, thus ensuring Malaysia's place as a centre for Islamic
finance and banking services in the region," he said.
He said the principles and concepts in Islamic finance has the intrinsic
potential to become the stabilising core principles in the turbulent financial
markets of today.
He said Islamic industry experts and financiers should advocate the core
principles of Islamic finance, which has deep roots in transparency, fairness
and maintaining social justice for use in the mainstream.
"In my view, this will not only serve as a profession to Islam as a
complete way of life but as our finite contribution to the world in ensuring
global financial stability and economic prosperity," he said.
