OSCE discusses concept of foreign gas trade in Ashgabat

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, June 1 /Trend H.Hasanov/
Ashgabat is hosting a seminar entitled 'Energy diplomacy: finding a common understanding in the discussion of key principles and concepts of foreign trade in gas these days', Turkmen media reported on Friday.
The event is being held in Ashgabat OSCE Centre in collaboration with the Office of Coordinator of Economic and Environmental Activities and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN).
The seminar is being attended by representatives of ministries and departments, the state information service Turkmen Dovlet khabarlary (TDH) said. Experts from the European Union, the USA, Canada, and from ConocoPhillips and SNR Denton UK LLP companies were invited.
The seminar is addressing issues of energy diplomacy, including the principles of international pricing on global gas markets and the legal aspects of gas export routes which are at the intersection of the seas and lakes.
Delegates are to be acquainted with the models of agreements in the global gas industry, conditions and rules of international negotiations on gas sales and a presentation of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators is also scheduled.
"Speaking about energy diplomacy as an important instrument regulating relations between the partners in the global energy market, participants stressed the increasing role of the Turkmen state whose constructive policy on energy flows, progressive initiatives in the field of secure, stable supply of energy to world markets has been widely recognised," Neutral Turkmenistan said.
Turkmenistan has an energy strategy to diversify the supply routes of natural gas, as well as to establish a reliable and stable system for the export of Turkmen energy to international markets, attaching importance to mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners. The Caspian country is one of the key suppliers of natural gas in that region and Central Asia. Exports of raw materials are carried to the markets of China, Iran and Russia.
