Hajj Affairs Committee Approves Liberalization of Prices for Next Hajj

Doha, May 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs' Hajj Affairs Committee has approved the liberalization of Hajj pilgrimage prices for the next season. Chairman of the Committee Mohammed Hassan Al Muhannadi said during a meeting held last night the Committee considered a number of subjects and discussed the necessary arrangements for the success of the next pilgrimage season, adding that it viewed that the liberalization of Hajj prices, which is followed in neighbouring Gulf countries, will be the best way to provide the best services. Al-Muhannadi, who chaired the meeting, stressed that the liberalization of prices will be open for competition among Hajj contractors to provide better and quality services to pilgrims of the State of Qatar in the Holy Lands including transportation, accommodation and medical treatment. He explained that the Committee has considered violations by some contractors filed to the Hajj pilgrimage mission during last season of 1432 AH, corresponding to 2011 saying the Committee will listen next week to contractors and will take the appropriate action regarding such violations. The Hajj Affairs Committee, set up by HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari at the end of April, comprises representatives from the Ministries of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Foreign Affairs and the Interior as well as the Supreme Council of Health, Qatar Red Crescent, the Supreme Education Council and Qatar Information Foundation.(QNA)
