Yemen, WHO discuss health cooperation
CAIRO, Oct. 09 (Saba)- Minister of Public Health and Population
Abdul-Karim Rase held talks on Thursday in Cairo with the Regional
Director of World Health Organization (WHO) for Middle East and
North Africa Hussein Abdul-Razaq al-Gazaeri over joint cooperation
ties between Yemen and WHO.
The meeting also discussed possibilities of WHO's support for
implementing the national campaign for eradicating polio expected to
be held in the end of 2008.
The meeting also discussed cooperation between Yemen and World
Vaccines Treaty to assist strengthening health system program in
Yemen as well as WHO's support for setting up liver cancer treatment
centers in the governorate which were ordered by President Saleh.
Meanwhile, during his participation in World Sight Day activities in
Cairo, the minister delivered Yemen's speech in which he pointed out
to the volume of sight problem in Yemen and the number of blindness
cases which reaches annually 20,000 cases, indicating governmental
support for blindness problem and the efforts being exerted by the
ministry in this regard.
