Qatar Wins 2nd Place in GCC Juniors Athletics Championship

Kuwait, April 08 (QNA) - Qatar s athletics team confidently won the runner-up position overall at the13th GCC Juniors Athletics Championship held from 4-6 April, 2012 in Kuwait. Qatari juniors proved a widely-praised performance during the three-day event to manage second behind the first place winners, the Saudi team. Qatari squad made impressive show of force to earn 14 medals, including four gold, six silver, four bronze. Qatar s Ashraf Al-Saifi opened the campaign with gold medal in Hammer event, his teammate, Muamar Barshem clinched the gold medal in High jump, Jamal Hayran clinched the silver medal in 1500 m race, as colleague Muayyad Ibraheem took bronze in the same. Qatar s team consisted of Jamal Hayran, Jamal Abdulnaser, Muayyad Ibraheem, Mohammed Kifah Al-Dossary seized the silver medal in 400 X 4 relay. (QNA)
