Palestinian Interior Minister Hails Qatar's Support to Security Sector

Doha, April 03 (QNA) - Palestinian Interior Minister Said Abu Ali hailed Qatar's continued support to the Palestinian security sector, to meet the needs of the security forces and develop them to maintain security and stability in the country. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Palestinian Interior Minister said that he met in with HE the Minister of State for Internal Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani during an official visit to Qatar with a Palestinian security delegation . He added that their talks during the meeting focused on bilateral relations and ways of developing them, praising the continuous support provided by the State of Qatar to the Palestinian issue. The Palestinian minister noted that the talks also dealt with the future plans and projects in accordance with the Palestinian vision of the security sector which protects the interests of people and embodies the national aspirations of the Palestinians, whether in the field of infrastructure or training. The minister highlighted HE the Minister of State for Internal Affairs understanding and Qatar's support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), including the security sector. Regarding cooperation agreements intended to be sign between the two countries to enhance cooperation in this area, Abu Ali said that the two countries do not need such agreements, but to give them a formal framework. In response to a question about a Qatari financial support for the restructuring of the Palestinian security services, especially as the National Authority is suffering from a severe financial crisis, the Palestinian Interior Minister said the Palestinian-Qatari relationship is not confined to only financial support, but the State of Qatar always offers such support, and there is another support in the field of infrastructure, equipment and training. About the Israeli serious escalation in the Palestinian territories during the last month and its impact on the internal situation, the minister said the conflict situation on the ground is continuous and resistance and sacrifice by our people are also continuous, whether in Gaza or the West Bank. Regarding the issue of prisoners, which raises substantial problems between Fatah and Hamas and negatively affect the path of reconciliation, and whether it will be closed soon, the Minister said in his interview with QNA that there are no arrests under the concept that used to undermine the Palestinian authority and security services because of the presence of a law that applies to everyone and related to the provision of security guarantees for the Palestinian people, regardless of affiliations. About the accusations that the Palestinian National Authority is in coordination with the occupation security, the Interior Minister said that there are some issues being exploited to undermine the Palestinian Authority. He added that the communication is required for necessities as it is an occupation force which is already existed and controls all vital border crossings, so there are no way to meet the needs of the Palestinian people but to communicate with it in accordance with the conventions.
