Qatar Hosts Symposium on Arbitration in Banking and Financial Disputes

Doha, March 31 (QNA) - Qatar National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has hosted a symposium on "Arbitration and ADR in Banking and Financial Disputes" in cooperation with ICC Banking Commission and the sponsorship of Qatar National Bank and McNair Chambers. The event was opened by HE the Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani who highlighted that the State of Qatar ranks first among the most stable and safest countries in the world thanks to the wise and long term vision on the investment in human capital and the optimal use of natural resources. This stability has allowed the State of Qatar to perform the role of a trusted arbitrator, who can be relied upon in the international arena, HE the QCCI Chairman noted. Qatar led the initiative to achieve a uniform law of arbitration in the GCC countries which was approved by the World Chambers Federation in 2006. Since then, Qatar International Center for Arbitration has settled disputes on hundreds of cases and complaints that are worth billions of riyals, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani noted. (QNA)
