Mottaki stresses need for strengthening Iran-Eritrea ties

Tehran, Oct 7, IRNA - Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in a meeting with visiting Eritrean Information Dissemination Minister, Ahmad Abdo, stressed need for strengthening Tehran-Asmara cultural and media ties.

According to IRNA Political Desk reporter, the Islamic Republic of
Iran Foreign Ministry's Information and Media Head Office reported
that Mottaki in the meeting referred to the independence seeking
struggles of Eritrean people in their anti-colonialist campaign,
arguing, "High self esteem of the present generation of Eritreans is
one of the fruits of your people's anti-colonialist struggles." He
reiterated, "Eritrea is situated at a very sensitive and strategic
geographical position and has managed to take long strides towards
national advancement relying on an appropriate management system."
The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to the current year
meeting between the two countries' presidents, reiterating, "That
meeting provided an appropriate ground for boosting comprehensive
relations in regional field and we are after implementing them." The
Eritrean Information Dissemination Minister, too, during the meeting
referred to the friendly role and fruitful ties between Iran and
Eritrea, adding, "Big world powers, particularly the United States,
are after expansionist objectives and exertion of their hegemony
around the globe when they speak of expanding ties." Voicing his
agreement with Mottaki in his bid for expanding media ties with
Eritrea, he said, "Expansion of comprehensive ties with the brother
and friendly Islamic Republic of Iran is among Eritrea's top foreign
relation priorities."
