Chief U.S. nuclear envoy says 'substantive' talks with North Korea

SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Yonhap) -- The chief U.S. envoy on North Korea's nuclear
disarmament talks said Friday he had "substantive" talks with his North Korean
counterparts during a visit to the communist country.

Assistant U.S. Secretary of State Christopher Hill returned to Seoul earlier in
the day after spending two days in the North's capital Pyongyang, where he met
his North Korean counterpart, Kim Kye-gwan, and other officials on a mission
aimed at stopping the country from reviving its atomic weapons drive.
Hill declined to reveal details of his discussions in North Korea.
Hill's trip to North Korea, originally scheduled to end on Thursday, was extended
by another day, prompting hopes for progress.
