It's all business as Dell Inc targets SMEs

Hanoi (VNA)- Computer hardware giant Dell Inc has announced its development
strategy in Vietnam, favouring small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Director of the South Asian Developing Markets Group, Catherin Lian,
said SMEs constitute one of five primary targets being pursued by the
American giant, and Vietnam, with its high number of SMEs is an excellent
market for the implementation of this strategy.

Accordingly, Dell has introduced a new model of laptop into the market,
designed specifically for use by SMEs in developing countries. The Dell
'Vostro', though extremely lightweight and tiny in size, has all of the
information technology functions a businessperson could need.

Dell Inc established a new distribution network, Partner Direct, which
will initially cater for the Ho Chi Minh City market.

Lian described Vietnam as a potentially huge market with numerous
opportunities for IT businesses to develop.

She also said her company has successfully broken into the new Southeast
Asian market after four months of operations. She looked forward to better
prospects for her company in Vietnam, due to the rapid development and
increasing use of wireless internet technology.
