Thai government moves to implement campaign vows

BANGKOK, December 25 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra visited the northeastern province of Si Sa ket on Sunday and announced that her government would implement all development projects she had promised during the vote campaigns. During her one-day visit to the province, Premier Yingluck presided over a ceremony to cast the biggest gold bell of Thailand and the 8th biggest of its kind in the world. The gold bell named Sangha Wari is 2.16 meters high and wide. Its name means water that symbolizes the peace of the nation and the unity and happiness of the people. The ceremony took place at Sribungboon temple. It included a classical dance to honor Lord Buddha. The prime minister said in her speech that it is a pleasure to conduct the ceremony and she hoped the auspicious moment would be the beginning of good life for people, affected by the recent flooding. Yingluck said the government will give full compensation to all flood-hit people, covering compensation for damaged farm products and implement economic stimulation plans including job creation in communities in order to speed up rehabilitation. On the same occasion, the prime minister also announced to proceed with all the projects she had promised during her vote campaigns, especially those concerning people’s economy and living conditions. The prime minister said as every vote for the government came from people, the government must do its best for them. She also gave her best wishes to people on the occasion of the New Year and expressed her hope to see the nation moves forward. (TNA)
